Downtown Baghdad Project: Transforming Baghdad’s Skyline

Progress continues on the ambitious Downtown Baghdad Project, a development set to transform the heart of the capital into a vibrant business and cultural hub. Construction teams are working diligently across multiple towers, advancing floor by floor to achieve a series of high-rise residential, office, and hotel towers, with heights reaching up to 50 stories.

As of November 2, 2024, significant construction activities are underway on key towers:

  • Tower B has reached the 21st floor, where block cutting operations are actively ongoing.
  • Tower C has progressed to the 12th floor, where intricate carpentry work is taking place to shape the ceilings.
  • Tower E is undergoing extensive plastering and finishing work on floors 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 16, showing substantial interior advancements.
  • Tower F is seeing wall cutting efforts that contribute to the detailed partitioning of spaces.
  • Tower G is focused on reinforcing and setting up columns on the 22nd floor, reinforcing structural integrity at this height.
  • Tower I is also active with foundational pile work, adding stability with a total of 202 piles (P130 and P60).

The project is supported by a dedicated workforce of 469 professionals, including engineers, operators, carpenters, welders, and safety personnel, ensuring that each phase adheres to the highest standards of quality and safety. Daily safety checks are conducted meticulously, such as verifying fire extinguisher placements and installing precautionary barriers on critical floors.

With each passing day, the Downtown Baghdad Project progresses closer to its goal of establishing an architectural landmark for Baghdad—a space that merges commerce, culture, and community. This project is poised to revitalize the city center, offering modern amenities, green spaces, and an array of services designed to enhance the urban experience for Baghdad’s residents and visitors alike.

Project Description

At the heart of Iraq’s iconic capital lies an ambitious vision: the transformation of 1.75 million square meters into a pulsating epicenter of business, culture, and modern living. Introducing the “Down Town Baghdad” project, a monumental endeavor that seeks to rejuvenate the historical Palace of Peace and its adjoining lakes in Al-Nusour Square.

From Barracks to Business Hub
Where once stood a neglected military barracks, the future promises a bustling business district. Our vision is to infuse life into this central space, making it a beacon for economic growth and cultural exchange.

Architectural Marvels
The project boasts of residential towers soaring up to 28 floors, providing panoramic views of the city. Complementing these are state-of-the-art office towers, ranging between 35 to 50 floors, designed to be the nerve centers of commerce. These structures are flanked by luxurious hotel towers, ensuring that visitors to Baghdad have accommodations befitting the city’s grandeur.

A Center for Culture and Arts
The existing Palace of Peace building is envisaged to be a hub for cultural expressions and artistic endeavors, bridging the city’s rich history with its promising future.

Leisure and Recreation
The heart of the development features a scenic promenade, stretching approximately 1 km, leading to a central square. Here, modern architecture pays homage to Baghdad’s unique identity. Residents and visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls, with seating areas offering serene views of the lakes and expansive green spaces.

Holistic Amenities
The project isn’t just about business and living spaces; it’s about creating a holistic urban environment. A state-of-the-art private hospital ensures healthcare needs are met promptly. Ample car parking facilities have been designed keeping in mind the project’s scale and the city’s growing needs.

In essence, “Down Town Baghdad” is more than a construction project; it’s a vision of renewal, a commitment to transforming Baghdad’s core into a symbol of prosperity, and a tribute to the indomitable spirit of its people.
